Buenos Aires is not only the capital of Argentina; it is also one of the 10 most important metropolises in the world and the centre of the political, economic and intellectual life of the country. It is also the most elegant and busy city in South America. This cosmopolitan city, with a great European cultural influence, displays a refined taste in its cooking, in its “boutiques” and in the elegance of its inhabitants. While of modern construction and dynamic activity, it has managed to preserve old traditions and charming corners. The atmosphere, the individual personality of each of its neighborhoods, the cordiality of its people and the wide selection of its cultural and commercial opportunities, fascinates the visitor.
Almost 13 million people live there and enjoy the plentiful nightlife visiting “tango” bars, cabarets, discotheques, restaurants or eternally open bars. During the day, a wide variety of attractions are offered: museums, art galleries, tasteful shops, fascinating antiques, large green areas, parks, wide tree lined boulevards, clubs and sporting events. For the gay traveler, Buenos Aires is a mecca. Now that full marriage rites have been granted for same-sex couples, Argentina ranks as one of the most gay-friendly places in the world. There are a plethora of gay clubs, bars and nightspots. People watching is a popular and rewarding past-time in Buenos Aires.

Day 01 -  Sat Mar 19 -  Departure from USA
Depart the USA on any regularly scheduled flight to Buenos Aires.

Day 02   Sun Mar 20       Buenos Aires: San Telmo Antique Fair
Arrival at Buenos Aires International airport (EZE), where you  will be welcomed by our local guide and transferred to your hotel.  Arrive the hotel where rooms are available for immediate check in.

After a rest, we begin our program. Sunday is famous for the San Telmo Antique Fair. San Telmo is the best kept historical neighborhood and oldest district of Buenos Aires. The San Telmo Antique Fair is one of the most relevant attractions that the city of Buenos Aires offers. Every Sunday the Plaza Dorrego looks different when it plays host to over 270 stands that offer for sale their unique goods, antiques and other old items. Gramophones, gramophone records, antique clothes, jewels, trinkets, postcards, calendars, books, iron-fittings, lamps, and an endless number of ornaments and curios may be found in this traditional Fair, organized by the Museum of the City.
The bars nearby take their tables out onto the sidewalk and the whole adjoining area fills with musicians, singers, tango dancers and mimes. Sundays in San Telmo is a feast on many levels.
Here we have time to stroll around Plaza Dorrego

Day 03 -  Mon Mar 21 - Buenos Aires: City Tour
This morning, after breakfast, we venture out into the city where the tango was born! Our tour  will visit Avenida de Mayo that runs into the Plaza De Mayo, which is surrounded by the Casa Rosada (Government House), the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Cabildo (first City Hall, built during Spanish rule). At the other end of Avenida de Mayo you find the Congress building.

Stop at the famous Café Tortoni, the oldest literati café of the city. Enjoy a cup of coffee & snack. Passing Colon Theatre, one of the world's best known opera houses and the cultural pride of the "porteños" (as the inhabitants of Buenos Aires are commonly called), we continue to Palermo with its beautiful parks then to the City Zoo, Botanical Garden, Argentine Horse Track and National Polo Fields. Palermo is beautiful for its artificial lakes. At the end of the tour we will visit the Recoleta area, one of the city’s glamorous spots. Recoleta is the quarter of the rich of Buenos Aires, even though it once hosted a slaughterhouse. Here you will find the Municipal Cultural Center, elegant boutiques and excellent restaurants, surrounded by centennial trees. On to the cemetery of Recoleta for a look at the grave of Eva Duarte who became famous as Eva Perón (Evita). The cemetery is the center of this aristocratic district. The more relevant personalities of Argentina’s history rest in Recoleta cemetary: politicians, explorers, priests, leaders, writers and poets. La Recoleta is a necropolis itself. The mausoleums, pantheons, tumulus and vaults reflect the architectural diversity emerging from the different cultural tendencies Argentina incorporated in its formation as a nation. The cemetery is considered to be one of the most impressive monuments of Argentina’s past.

This afternoon you may wish to visit MALBA (Museum of Latin America Art of Buenos Aires). This spectacular museum is a wonderful tribute to Latin American modern art.

Day 04 - Tue Mar 22  - Buenos Aires: Artists & Tango
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Discover Buenos Aires today through its artists.
Today we have arranged to experience Buenos Aires through its most creative inhabitants. Meet artists in the intimacy of their private working spaces that have been opened to a select group of privilege guests.
We are encouraging a bridging of the gap and a deepening of the connection between the artist and the audience by offering visitors an insiders look at contemporary art in Buenos Aires. You will have the opportunity to interact with the local artist, learn about his/her craft and even purchase something you may find that appeals to you.

Tonight it is a famous Dinner & Tango show at one of the Buenos Aires Tango Houses.
The Tango, a dance started at the end of the last century from a mixture of various rhythms, was danced orginally in the poorer quarters of the city. At first it was danced by pairs of men to the music of the flute, the violin and the guitar, the first of which was subsequently replaced by the "bandoneón" (a type of accordion), which gave it its distinctive flavor. With the addition of the nostalgia and melancholy contributed by immigrants, the tango gave rise to such musicians as Astor Piazzolla and Anibal Troilo. After tango show, return back to the hotel or go out on the town this evening.

The Tigre Delta with its rivers, streams and numerous green islands is an attractive area for visitors. The continuous sediment of the Paraná River, which gives the river and estuary a particular brownish-red color, forms the Delta islands.

Enjoy a boat excursion (1 hour) on a vintage mohogany launch through the numerable channels of the Paraná-Delta.  Lunch will be included at a local restaurant. In the afternoon return back to Buenos Aires city.
