| TRAVEL DOCUMENTS |
A single entry visa for Brazil is required for American/Canadian passport holders.. For obtaining your visa in advance, for current costs and download able forms, we recommend using Zierer Visa Service. To speak directly to ZVS Customer Service, call 866-788-1100 (toll-free in the U.S.). Please note that visas cannot be processed more than 90 days prior to departure and processing may take several weeks to complete. You may also apply directly with a Brazilian Consulate in your area. For information, google the Brazilan Consulate nearest you (e.g. Brazilian Consulate New York). You must have a valid passport that remains valid six months past your return to the U.S. You should also have a minimum of two empty passport pages. |
SHOTS |
None required. A Yellow Fever vaccination is recommended by the Center for Disease Control for visiting the Amazon. Brazil requires travelers arriving from countries where yellow fever is present to present proof of yellow fever vaccination. Anti-Malarial prophylaxis is also recommended. For visiting the Amazon, you should take one of the following antimalarial drugs: atovaquone/proguanil, doxycycline, or mefloquine (primaquine in special circumstances and only after G6PD testing). Delta Airlines, American Airlines & Tam Airlines are among airlines that can be used for this trip. International airfare on TAM AIRLINES is $800 from Miami while space lasts. ($730 from New York + 1 add'l night in Rio due to early a.m. departure on March 13th. |

Light cotton fabrics are best. T-shirts, khakis, shorts, jeans and similar casual wear will be best for daytime touring. In the evening you will want to dress casual/chic for dining in the hotel & ship restaurants. A jacket is not required. |

Brazilian Real (R$)
The currency used in Brazil is called the Brazilian Real and banks, hotels, and authorized money changers can exchange foreign currency for Reals. Large cities have ATMs which accept Visa and MasterCard as well as American Express. The ATM network is ever expanding, and in some states you can find them even in some smaller towns. International airports have currency exchange booths that are always open for arriving or departing overseas flights.
Contact your bank in advance of departure to determine whether you will be able to use your ATM or credit card at locations abroad.

The electric current is 127/220V 60Hz. Most devices today are dual voltage but do check if yours happens to NOT be and you will require a converter.
